Here are a few tips on what to purchase to get you started on this very rewarding hobby.

  1. Firstly a small paper guillotine is needed for jobs such as cropping photos and cutting papers. This simple machine gives you a straight neat edge.
  2. A corner rounder is another useful tool. It simply rounds off the corners of your photos for a nice smooth look. An acid free adhesive is also needed for your photos and this can be in the form of a specifically designed double sided tape dispenser or glue stick.
  3. Purchase an album that has refillable pages and buy yourself an extra pack of refills. Once you get started you will want to do more!
  4. You will also need some acid free backing papers and stickers and any embellishments that you may want to decorate your page. These simple bits and pieces will get you started and later you can add more advanced cutters and decoration ideas such as borders.
  5. Cutters are available in different shapes and sizes and can add variety and interest to your pages. Purchase a cutting mat also.
  6. Other things that may be handy to have nearby are scissors, felt tip pen and some containers for storage.

An abundance of photos is a necessity so start selecting and printing those that either have some significance or are simply good photos. Photos are not the only things you can use in your scrapbooking. It is a wonderful way to incorporate important or sentimental items such as certificates, clippings, invitations, children’s drawings, writing or any other bits and pieces. It is terrific if you have a space where you can leave your scrap booking projects set up and work on them at your leisure. Scrapbooking is a wonderful way to make special keepsakes and it is lots of fun too!
